Bridges are made by reshaping the teeth on either side of a tooth space. Crowns are then fabricated that will fit over the reshaped teeth. Dental crown material typically consists of white or silver metal on the inside and white porcelain covering the outside. The outer white porcelain helps them blend seamlessly with the natural teeth. Tooth crown procedures usually take two appointments to complete. In the first appointment, the weakened tooth is prepared and a temporary crown is placed until the permanent one is ready. In the second appointment, the temporary crown is removed and the permanent crown is cemented.
